FIRE RADIO DISPATCH SYSTEM
Clearfield County Department of Emergency Management has implemented a state of the art Fire Dispatch Communications System. This system consists of a UHF system that is simulcast over fourteen (14) tower sites throughout Clearfield County . The simulcast system allows for maximum coverage for dispatching fire personnel to an incident. MDC Signaling has also been incorporated into this system for security purposes.
The Fire Dispatch System consists of twelve (12) repeated fire ground channels, three (3) operations channels, and one (1) county operations channel. In an effort to maximize coverage for fire personnel while on the scene of an incident, the 12 fire ground channels are situated geographically throughout Clearfield County . The 3 operations channels are designed for on-scene operations between chief officers and on-scene personnel. Finally, the county operations channel is designed as part of emergency services interoperability in which fire, police, and EMS can communicate during a large scale incident.
The Fire Dispatch System has been equipped with a secure MDC signaling system. This system adds an additional level of security in that unauthorized personnel will be unable to transmit on the fire dispatch system. All radios operating on the fire dispatch system must have an authorized MDC code issued by the Clearfield County Department of Emergency Management. A second layer of security is added in that the code must be entered into a database (located in a secure location) to be effective. If the code is not entered into the secure database, the radio will not operate on the system.
Any fire department wishing to add additional radios to the Clearfield County Fire Dispatch System is to complete and submit the Request for Radio Call Sign form to the Clearfield County Department of Emergency Management for authorization.
